About our Board Certified Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Hanna is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Subsequently, he completed a three-year residency at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he received advanced training in orthodontics, surgery, pediatric dentistry, trauma care, critical care medicine, anesthesiology and hospital dentistry. He also holds a degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Hanna's health care career began as a lifeguard at the Robinson Township Community Pool. From the beginning, he learned how to prevent accidents and protect lives. His background expanded as he volunteered as a paramedic for the Robinson Township Emergency Medical Service. His healthcare experience continued to evolve through his work as a phlebotomist in the blood lab at Mercy Hospital and as a lab technician in the clinical pathology lab at Children's Hospital. While attending the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Hanna worked as a technician researching artificial hearts. After completing his degree in psychology, Dr. Hanna was accepted into the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where he decided to combine his psychology and healthcare background to help children through the profession of pediatric dentistry.
Through his residency at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Dr. Hanna developed his expertise in hospital dentistry. He has worked on many complex hospital cases including children with multiple organ transplants. In addition, he completed training with the STAT helicopter rescue service.
Helping to educate the next generation of kids dentists, Dr. Hanna is a recipient of the prestigious Master Clinician Scholarship through the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He lectures at West Virginia University's School of Dental Medicine, as well as to residents at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He is also a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Through his certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, he has served as an instructor for the American Heart Association.

A recognized expert in the field of pediatric dentistry, Dr. Hanna is an official spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. You may see him quoted in magazines such as Family Circle, Parents, Woman's Day, American Baby, Martha Stewart Baby, and Endless Vacation among other publications. He also serves as a resource for radio and television stations. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Selected by his peers, Dr. Hanna is consistently recognized as one of Pittsburgh's "Top Dentists" according to Pittsburgh Magazine.
Working with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Hanna is the legislative liaison for the State of Pennsylvania. Through this appointment, he meets with Pennsylvania lawmakers concerning access to dental care for children. He has been instrumental in advancing legislation that grants children access to hospital anesthesia.
